The Ghana Studies Association is proud to announce its 2nd triennial conference on the beautiful University of Cape Coast Campus, 6-9 July 2016. The conference theme is “Global Ghana”.

This interdisciplinary gathering of local and international students and scholars of Ghana’s past and present will engage a wide range of issues related to the theme “Global Ghana.” Conference papers will be distributed in advance. Select papers will be invited for resubmission for publication in an edited volume.
The sub-themes will include, but are not limited to:
(A) Immigration, Emigration, and Tourism
(B) Pan-Africanism and the Diaspora
(C) Politics and Commerce in the International Sphere
(D) Music, Sports, and Popular Culture
(E) Media, Technology, and Digital Social Life
(F) Gender and Sexuality
(G) Human Rights and Humanitarianism
(H) Religion and the State
(I) Arts, Writers and Intellectuals and International Networks
(J) Science, Medicine and Public Health
(K) The Environment, Resources, and Preservation
We are accepting registration for ‘Global Ghana’ (Cape Coast 2016). Conference participants must register NO LATER THAN 20 May 2016 to be included in the final program.
Registration is $30 USD for Africa-based scholars and graduate students, $70 for non-Africa-based graduate students, and $90 USD for non-Africa-based scholars.
Registration includes tickets to lunch on Days One and Two, Opening Reception and Dinner, Keynote Lecture and Reception, Closing Reception and Dinner, and shuttle service at UCC between conference site and guest houses.

We have reserved 20 rooms at Sasakawa Guest House at the rate of 70/100GHS for a single and 80/120GHS for a double.
We have 15 rooms reserved at the Institute of Education Guest House at the rate of 100GHS for a single and 120GHS for a double.
(The conference will use an exchange rate of $1 = 4 cedis).
Please indicate in your email if you would prefer NOT to share, as space is very limited.
We will have a bus to the UCC from the University of Ghana, Legon at 7:00 am on 6 July and return to Accra on 10 July. If you would like to reserve a seat on the bus please email email@example.com with subject line: transportation. Roundtrip fare for the bus is 30GHS.
The bus will leave the University of Ghana for Cape Coast on Wednesday, 6 July at 7 am. The meeting point is the car park of the Institute of African Studies. If you need directions or have any challenges, call Nana Akua at 027 711 5711.
